AN AWESOME WEEK!

So what an awesome weekend right? All I can say is "amazing"!  So many awesome things happened this week so hopefully I can explain it all clearly!

We started off the conference weekend Saturday morning with two baptisms! What better way to start off a conference weekend right! It was such a good start!! So we have been teaching these two sisters for the past couple weeks. One of them has always been really excited and wanted baptism but the other had her doubts and wasn't sure. But this last Thursday we had a lesson with them and they were both way stoked for baptism and both knew that's what they wanted in their lives! I was so happy! They are 15 and 13.  I  had the oppurtunity to baptize the older one which was awesome! My first experience baptizing in portuguese! Hopefully these pictures will work because I snapped some good photos this weekend! Man that high school photo class is really helping out a lot!!

And then conference was soooo good! Wow!  It was amazing!!  All the talks were so good and so inspired!  How can anyone watch that and now know that the Church is true?  We got to watch all the sessions in english except for the priesthood session, which was a big bummer.  They recorded the priesthood session and played it early sunday morning but the recording was messed up so we had to watch it in portuguese! Bummer for me because that's always my favorite session and it was difficult to understand!  it pained me because during priesthood session, everyone was laughing and i was like "well I totally translated that wrong because, really, what's so funny?"  haha  If you could just send me the talks of Monson, Uchtdorf and Eyring that would be awesome! I don't know how you can listen to those guys and not know that they are called of god. President Monson is absolutely amazing. Without a doubt, he is a prophet of god. I love hearing his jokes and to feel of his amazing spirit!  I really liked the first session on Saturday. I thought there were so many good talks! I think my favorite of the whole conference was elder Scott's! I felt the spirt so strong! I loved when he talked about the Book of Mormon and the strippling warriors and how if they strippling warriors' fathers hadn't been converted and stayed strong in their commitment to not pick up their arms, their kids wouldn't have been ready to help them. The parents learned from their mistakes and then instilled the knowledge and truths they had learned to strengthen their kids. I thought it was way powerful. I also loved the prophets talk and when he was talking about the man who had gone blind, I totally thought about grandad, as well! Even though that man couldn't see or hear, he had an amazing impact on so many people in his life! Grandad will always have such a HUGE impact on me whether he can see me or not! I also loved Uchtdorf's talk. He always puts things so simply. And I loved when he said "doubt your doubts - never doubt your faith"! We should never doubt our faith, no matter what happens. When we have a strong testimony in Jesus Christ, everything else becomes so much easier, and when we are truly converted to Jesus Christ, we will never fall away, no matter what problems or difficulties hit us! We should strive everyday to grow closer to our Savior because he's the only one who knows everything we feel and everything we are going through! Those were some of my favorite talks but I really thought it was all so good! We should all study these talks as well when the Liahona comes out! I can't remember who said it but they said "we grow the most after conference ends. we should take what we learned and put it into action because other wise its just useless knowledge"!

So - transfers are tomorrow but I am staying here with Elder Assis! One of the elders in our house, the other zone leader, is being transfered which is a bummer because I liked him a lot. So I will for sure have 6 more weeks in this area and I am way stoked about that!  Things have been going really well here!  We taught a family last night of a father and three of his daughters and they were so perfect!  When we ended the discussion, we asked the dad if he would like to pray and he accepted and then asked if we could kneel! What the heck? Usually investigators are super timid to pray the first time but this guy was so different!

Sounds like you all had an aweome weekend with the fam! Wish I could have been there but not really because I know I'm supposed to be here! Tell Amberlee thanks for making the bacon in my memory! It means a lot! The other day I had these bacon chips! What the fetch? Why don' we have these things in the states! So amazing! I think I told you how amazing the pizza is here! Sao Paulo apparently is like a pizza capital and is well known for their pizza! So good! We bought one from a place that's said to be the best in our mission and trust me, I was in heaven! Oh my!

Well I love you all and hope you're all doing well! I know that Jesus is our Savior and that this is his church! I know without a doubt that President Monson is a prophet of God and this is his work!
thanks for all the support!

Love

Elder Holmes
