Oh the Excitement!

Subject: oh the excitement!!

Hello hello!!

I cannot even express how crazy this week has been here. By far the craziest week untill now! So I'm sure you are all wonding where i went! I'm in an area called Parque das Nacões! I'm sure you all know exactly where that is! haha. Anyway, this week was filled with loads of new stuff and surprises! Remember how I said that I'd be opening a new area? Add to that a new zone!  The zone Interlagos was divided here and this one was created, so we're laying down history here! Add to  that my new companion (Elder Steadman from Utah) was called with me as a new zone leader! So we're both new, not being trained with a new zone. opening an area. So yah, CRAZY, but the miracles that happened were even crazier! I have a ton to write and for sure I will leave out a ton of stuff but I'll give you the gist!

So leaving Embu was sad. I didn't have a ton of time to say goodbye to alot of people but I got to say goodbye to Cezar and Walmiria which was awesome. It was sad to leave Embu but I'm way excited to be here for sure!

This ward from what I can tell is awesome for a lot of reasons! The first being that the Bishop was released last week so we have a new bishop and he's super excited to put the fire in this ward! All the members seem super pumped as well! We really have to take advantage of this opportunity and just maintain this excitement! We live in the house below the Bishop as well which is way cool. Today he's going to do a bbq for us which should be super fun! There are so many members that live on our same road as well! All the members refer to it as the `rua dos môrmons´ haha. So we will have everyone right here next to us!

And as well we had two baptisms here that confirmed to me that I would be blessed for leaving families there in Embu! We baptized a family here that the missionaries found almost a year ago exact! They weren't married so the missionaries were trying to help them marry so they could be baptized. The only problem is that the husband didn't want to get married so they were never baptized. His brother is a member and is a boss. He will serve a mission for sure. Anyways the missionaries were visiting them a ton and then there was a big period where no one was visiting them. Then randomly the husband just decided he wanted to get married and they went and marked a date to be married without the missionaries and then they went to church and found the missionaries and marked a date to be baptized.  Then we arrived! Taught them throughout this week and Saturday they were married in the morning and at night they were baptized! Jefferson and Karina! They are such an awesome family and have 3 kids! They all love the missionaries! It was so cool to work with them just this week and for sure in the future! It was super funny. We saw Jefferson after the wedding in the street and he was wearing a shirt that had a bride and groom and under it in english it said ´game over´ haha! They had a ton of family at the baptism as well which was way cool. Yesterday they were confirmed which was super special, and after church they invited us to eat with them because they had a celebration lunch. So great!  All in all it was an awesome day!!

Also on Sunday we had two other families there which are super awesome! One that the other elders had found the day before we got here in a contact in the street so we went there and it was amazing! They want to get married as well. They just have to wait for a birth certificate to arrive so that they can mark a date! They went to church and liked it alot! Another family that we found and invited to church on Saturday and the next day they went and loved it too. We just have to marry them as well. They work a ton so it will be harder but it shall be done! Needless to say, with these two families and all the family of Karina and Jefferson, the church was full! Alot of the members noticed it and they are excited with the new bishop and now 3 new american elders in the ward to work!! It should be an amazing transfer for sure!

I feel like I'm leaving some stuff out but that's the gist! Things are going super well here and hopefully things can continue crazy like they are right now! Oh my gosh i have so many photos I want to send to you but as I went to plug in the cord, I  discovered that the usb thingy has been taken out of this computer! Elder steadman's isn't working either! Just like in the ghetto computer saloons! You'll just have to know that I snapped some sweet pics! I love you all and hope you all have a great week!!

Hey one last request:  we are planning on having a ton of family nights to get the ward excited and to integrate our investigators, so next week send me some sweet ideas of what we can do! we have a few in mind but the more the better! that would be the best!

Love you all so much!

Elder Holmes
