"H" to the double "o" "D"

From: Nicholas Holmes <nicholas.holmes@myldsmail.net>

Hello friends and family!! I hope everyone is doing awesome and loving life!

This week was a good one, full of surprises and craziness as always! To start out, at the end of last week and the beginning of this week we couldn’t work at night because there were some gang wars going on in our zone. haha! Mom told me not to go light on the details so I tell the truth! From what it seems, it was between the police and the favella. The police here are super corrupt. But there were quite a few people who died in the wars last week and President got pretty concerned, so we had to return home before it got dark each night and stay in the house. This made it difficult, because usually it’s easier to teach people at night after 6 or so! So teaching this week was a bit complicated! But on Friday we were assured that the war had ended and we would be able to work as normal! I always wanted to serve in the ghetto and I guess my wish came true! As my friend DJ Kalid would say “I’m so hood!” haha! But no need to worry.  We are safe! I never feel in any danger. The spirit is always by my side!

On Tuesday we spent most of the day in the hospital and then slept at the mission office because Elder Brelaz was bit by an insect or something and it got really infected so he had to go drain all the puss, which was pretty gross! He is all good now! I know I’ve been pretty bad at sending pics, but these computers here are way sketch and full of viruses so I don’t want to lose all my photos! I will send some next week for sure! Our area is going way well. We have 3 couples that we have been teaching that just need to get married. They are all super awesome! So we will see where they are headed! One of the couples we found this week and they are so great! Unfortunately he didnt go to church yesterday because his car broke Saturday night so he didn’t even return to his home until the next morning. But they are really good and will get married and baptized for sure! The only bummer is that I won't be able to see it because I was transferred!!

Yep I was transfered fast! Just 6 weeks in the area! But i am stoked out of my mind because I was called to train again!! I love training so much! So after 7 months of serving as zone leader, I was released and am now a trainer again! President has put a ton of focus on the fact that the two most important callings as a missionary are trainers and helping the missionaries with difficulties. This transfer we will only recieve one new missionary so I will be the only trainer in the mission! President wrote me this week a super good email about the confidence he has in me. The assistants had asked all the zone leaders if they would be willing to accept one of these two callings (trainer or working with the missionaries who have difficulties) and President told me that I was one of the few zone leaders who accepted the call. I love the President so much and he has helped me a ton with my progress here on the mission and in life!

Well that’s about all I’ve got for you! I’m super good and stoked to train! Yesterday was kids day here in Brazil so I guess I’ll just be waiting for my package! haha!  Love you all.  Have a great week!
