First Pic is me kissing a Jaca for Good Luck!
And second pic is the baptism of Claudinei!
Hey Everyone!!
So things this last week were super good and yesterday morning we had our first baptism! Claudinei got baptized and it was super cool! I was so pumped! After the service, and during church, he received the gift of the Holy Ghost and man I could feel the spirt so strong. It was so cool!
Claudinei's baptism was definitely the highlight of the week, but everything else was awesome as well! It is staring to get really hot here, and walking everywhere during the day is brutal But I figure I'm working off the boat loads of food that I eat every day for lunch. haha This week we were blessed with such delicious lunches. All of them were amazing! We had our first brazilian bbq and the family who hosted it is less active but they love having the missionaries in their home. They had a ton of food and their cooking was way good! They had all these different meats and chicken. I was in heaven! And then the juice down here is amazing, like 20 times better than in the states! I'm in love! haha Dad asked me last week what I do for breakfast and believe it or not, I cook for myself. Ya I know, crazy huh? All by myself! haha. I usually just make some eggs (scrambled and over easy. Yah I can do both!) and some milk. It's all pretty dang good if I say so myself!!
As for everything else, we had a mini mtc for the ward down here yesterday and got them super excited to do missionary work throughout the week! Not as many people as we would have liked showed up but there were still quite a few! We set up a point system where they can earn points by doing different missionary stuff, to encourage them to get out there! And everyone was given a companion so they can work together and invite their friends! Way cool! I was talking to one of the kids here that is 16 and his goal by the end of the year is to baptize 16 people! Crazy huh! He said he's going to bring them to us to teach and he will do the baptizing! Way cool. He's way motivated to share with his friends!
Right after the meeting, one of the young women said she had set up a meeting with one of her friends for us to teach, so we went to teach her. It was a cool experience because normally Elder Assis teaches a majority of the lesson, but I taught the entire lesson! All in portuguese! It was so great and we challenged her to be baptized if she reads and knows it is true, and she accepted! So it was all in all a success!
Oh and my companion is from the same city where Elder Phipps is serving right now! Crazy huh? He says that Elder Phipps is going to die because it is so hot there year round! Oh my gosh, good luck to him!
That's pretty much it though. Things are going great! I love this church and know with all my heart that it is the true church. And I know that it brings so much happiness into the lives of everyone! ate mais!
Love Elder Holmes
