Hi everyone! Man what an embarrassing game for Brazil, right?! Holy cow they just got slaughtered! Man the United States did so much better than that against Germany! So of course it has let me show some more of my American pride with the members! haha Sounds like a few of you were concerned about me down here and if i would survive! Where I live after the game it was super weird, like no one was doing anything afterwards! I think that it was such a beating that everyone just gave up! But from talking to other people, I have heard that there were some crazy riots going on and that the night they lost, 20 busses were burned in the streets! I think one was burned in the other elders’ area, which is pretty crazy. but as for us, we didn’t see any riots or revolting. The day after the game, though, a lot of people thought me and the other american in our house were German! Anyway it was good that they played against Argentina because no one here wanted Argentina to win, so they all started cheering for Germany. I’ve heard there might be some riots this week but more towards the center of Sao Paulo so I’ll be safe for sure. Don’t worry about me! And then when Brazil lost to the Netherlands on Saturday, I don’t think anyone really even cared about the 3rd place so it was about the same reaction. Too bad they couldn’t have won the whole thing! It would have been cool to see! The week was short because we had to stay inside Tuesday and Saturday and yesterday after church, but at long last it’s over and we will have a full week of work!
Yesterday we had a baptism which was way awesome!! That family that went to the temple with us last week, Morgana and Vitoria were baptized yesterday, which was super awesome, and also Meire and Vitor! I don’t know if i told you about them but they are so awesome! Vitor is 16 and huge and Meire is his grandma. They are super awesome. Meire is so funny and wants to baptize everyone now! Her 3 other grandkids who live with her as well, got back yesterday. They were passing the break with their dad but live with her and Vitor and she’s already wanting to baptize all of them. The baptism was super good as well and the spirit was super strong. A ton of the members stayed after church so there were a lot of people there. President Dalton was there at the chapel too because I think he will attend the other ward in the building, so he watched as well which was nice. After the baptism we asked them to bear their testimonies which was way cool to see. After the service, we went to Meire’s house to eat lunch because last week in the Relief Society she had already marked to eat with the missionaries for yesterday! She made a huge feast! There was so much food there! Morgana and Vitoria went and the other two missionaries were there as well! There were a lot of her friends there too, and she wants to take them all to church! Meire had a tough time actually being baptized. She just didn’t want to go under! She was super scared and I think got a little embarrassed and started crying, but the third time was the charm! She told me afterwards that in the bathroom after she changed, a member gave her a big hug and held her tight. She had lost her mom when she was 6 so grew up without a mom, but she said that with that hug she felt the mother’s love that she always wanted! It was super cool to hear! It was so fun to see everyone after lunch so happy! So in all it was a good day!
The birth certificate never arrived for Ricardo, which is depressing, but he is still a beast. He told us that he never wants to leave the church! We’ve been calling the building where he was born but they are never there so it has been hard, but they will be baptized for sure!
My companion goes home this next week so this is the last week with him! And wow - I can’t believe I’ve been out for a year! (on Thursday). Man the time flies by so fast! I don’t like thinking about it but I guess i have to! Just know that for sure I will be celebrating with a pizza! Dad asked if we burn ties or shirts here to mark our time in the mission, but no one really does. At least I haven’t heard of anyone who does. And for sure I´d like to give a big old "I TOLD YOU SO!" to Grandad! I knew Lebron was returning to his home! I know grandad will like him even more than he does now!! haha
I think that’s all I’ve got for ya today! Tomorrow we go to the temple, which should be super good! Hope all is going well for you back home! The church is true and I’m so glad I have the oppurtunity to share it with people everyday!!! One year down only one to go! Love you all!!
