How are you family!! It feels like I was just writing to you guys yesterday! Man how the time flies here! I’ll start off by wishing a happy birthday to the best grandad this world has ever known!! Happy 85th birthday grandad!! I hope you have an awesome day and that everyone throws you a huge party! Thank you for the example and support you have always given me over the years! You never stopped and I know you never will! Have a great day on the 11th big guy!
So this week was a crazy and busy one, that’s for sure! To start off, I already love President Dalton to death! Oh man he is such a stud! He’s huge, as well! Super tall. We had a meeting with him with all the zone leaders on Tuesday and then on friday we had a multi zone conference with him. He’s super funny as well and super excited for sure to be here in Brazil with us! And the vision he has as to where this mission is going is incredible! He focused a ton on the temple. He wants every recent convert to be able to enter in the temple as fast as possible and do baptisms for their own ancestors. The apostles passed him a new rule as well that as missionaries now we have to teach all the lessons, before and after baptism. Usually it was the members job to teach the recent convert lessons after baptism, but it’s not being done as it should be, so we will teach all the lessons again with the purpose of helping them progress to the temple! Everyone is super excited and President as well is full of gas and ready to go to work! So it was for a sure a good meeting and everyone left way excited! So no needs to worry. I already love the new pres and know that he’s going to continue to do what President Pinho did!
This week as well we took two of our investigators to the temple which was super awesome! They loved it a ton and for sure felt the spirit there. She has two daughters. The first time she went to church she loved it. She's super awesome and is loving the church. She reads everything we leave for her so she’s progressing super fast. It was a super cool experience to be able to take them to the temple for sure. She knows what she wants for sure! So keep her in your prayers this week!
I won’t lie that this is the hardest ward I’ve been in. Lots of different challenges! We went to the ward meeting with all the leaders and talked a lot about these topics which was super good. I think we really opened their eyes and it helped a lot. Yesterday we saw a huge difference with the members! They helped out a ton with the investigators and are starting to get exctited! I think it is the reason we are in this area! What I have learned is that church is not a social event but a time to renew our covenants, to learn and to feel the spirit! So always remember why you’re going to church and make it a spiritual experience for those around you as well!
Our baptism fell through this week because she always says the same thing and it puts doubts in her mind as to whether or not it’s really the true church. We will for sure continue with her so keep her in her prayers.
I can’t believe Scott told you about where the guy got shot! haha What a tool! But we are always safe and I know if I’m obedient, that the spirit will warn me of any danger! 4th of july was a good one! We stayed in the house of the meeting with presidente. Elder Michealson and I made cookie brownies again to celebrate! Good day for sure! I sure love America and am so proud to be an American for sure!!
Brazil is toast in the cup for sure and I think everyone knows it! haha! Maybe the fact that they know it ahead of time will make it easier for them when they lose! Big bummer about the states! I was talking a bunch of smack for them but I told everyone that they just wanted to return and celebrate the 4th in their own country!
Other than that, things are going well! The church is true and Joseph Smith was a prophet. I don' have a doubt in my mind about it! Love you all and have a great week!!
Love
Elder Holmes
